Here it is…
Hi, friend,
Do you ever notice how your mood can swing, just as quickly as your hips tighten or your knees ache?
You’re not imagining it. That’s your energy talking.
Hello and welcome. I’m Sarah Gowans. I help busy women, busy people, just like you to ease muscle tension, calm stress, and feel more at home in their bodies. In this month’s videos, we’ll blend the wisdom of traditional Chinese medicine with the modern science of stress and the nervous system.
Because when your body flows, your life flows too.
Okay. Tell me honestly, do your moods sometimes swing as fast as your knees ache or your hips tighten?
If they do, you might find it helpful to think of it this way:
You can think of your body like a string of holiday lights. When one bulb flickers, the whole chain feels off. Right?
That’s what happens when your TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine meridians; or your chakras, one or the other, or both, aren’t flowing well.
Why Do I Swing From Calm To Irritable In Seconds?
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the liver and gallbladder meridians are like highways of energy. The liver meridian runs through your hips and groin. The gallbladder runs down the side of your head, the outside of your hips, through your knees and ankles.
When these meridians are flowing, you feel flexible, grounded, and confident. But when stress clogs them up, blocks them, your joints can feel stiff and your head pounding, even mood swings, from calm to irritable in seconds!
Align Your Energy, Ease Your Mind
In TCM, the season of spring belongs to the wood element, with the liver and gallbladder meridians. These two meridians are like our body’s planners and decision makers.
The liver keeps our energy, our chi, flowing smoothly, flowing well. While the gallbladder helps us to take decisive action. When they’re strong and flowing, you feel flexible, decisive, and full of energy.
But when they get stuck, we can feel stuck in anger, frustration, irritability, and other mood swings.
Align Your Chakras, and Flow
Now let’s layer in the chakras. At the same time, these hubs of energy flicker and go dim. The root chakra, which lives at the base of our hips, is all about grounding. It’s your anchor, your stability. While the solar plexus chakra in your upper belly fuels your confidence and decision-making. If those lights flicker you can feel wobbly, achy, and moody.
Same wisdom, different language
Do you notice how those chakras sound a lot like the liver and gallbladder meridian?
The root chakra equals grounding. It connects your lower body, and any blockages here can lead to tightness in your hips, knees, and legs. While the solar plexus equals direction, it influences the flow of your energy and your digestion. It can affect your mood and energy levels. Same wisdom, different language.
Let’s Do It Together:
When your meridians are blocked and your chakras dim, you can feel off-balance.
But here’s the magic. You can balance them and bring the lights back on.
- Let’s try it together. Stand tall with me.
- Feel grounded firmly, with your feet on the floor,
- Place your hands on your belly
- Take a deep breath in through your nose,
- And as you slowly breathe out, say to yourself: “I am strong, I am grounded. I move forward with ease.”
- And one more time.
- Breathing in…
- And breathing out, say to yourself: “I am strong. I am grounded. I move forward with ease.”
Balance Your Body, And Find Your Flow
Did you feel that?
You’ve just lit up your root chakra and supported your liver meridian? You have strengthened your solar plexus and cleared your gallbladder meridian, too. All at the same time, with a simple breath.
When they’re flowing together, your mood softens, your joints loosen, and your body flows free. So you can step into spring with more clarity and ease.
Because energy isn’t meant to be stuck, it’s meant to flow.
And spring is the perfect season to bloom into that flow.
So thank you for taking this moment for yourself, and if this spoke to you. Share it with a friend who could also use a little more flow in their life this spring. And remember, you don’t have to carry it all on your own.
Breathe, stretch, and give yourself permission to bloom into balance this spring.
From my heart to your heart,
Namaste.
